NORTH PLATTE – Lexington and Cozad girls’ golf teams met each other in North Platte on Friday as they took part in the North Platte Invitational.
The nine-team event displayed teams from three different classes, as Class A Millard West and North Platte took part, along with new Class C member Ogallala.
The Minutemaids finished with two golfers in the top 10, while the Lady Haymakers got a top-10 finisher for the first time this season.
Lexington’s Abrea Hernandez and Rachael Leibhart continue to led the Minutemaid linksters this season, as Hernandez’s 18-hole score of 95 was good enough to land her in seventh place overall for the tournament. Leibhart finished in a tie for eighth position with Millard West’s Mallory Williams with a 97.
Trinitee Weinmaster was Cozad’s top finisher for the tournament, as her 99 landed her in the top 10 for the first time this season.
Rounding out the scoring for Lexington, Kelli Bomberger finished her day with a 122, while Rachel Linch ended with a 140. Their team score of 454 put them in eighth place overall.
For Cozad, Jacqui Koch finished with a 102, Ronelle Jackson finished with a 117 and Ida Rose Sprague ended with a 122. Their final score of 440 put them in fifth place in the end.
McCook was the overall team winner with a 389, while Kaylee Samway of McCook took the individual title with an 89.
Lexington was in Gibbon on Tuesday, while the Cozad girls were in Gothenburg for the Gothenburg Invitational. Results will be in Saturday’s issue of the Clipper-Herald.
