The best cruise bargains often can be found in the fall.
Some travelers hesitate to sail this time of year because of the possibility of hurricanes, but cruise lines keep close watch on the weather and reroute ships if necessary.
Rates start at $399 for Carnival Glory’s seven-day Western Caribbean cruise from Port Canaveral on Oct. 31 and Nov. 14. Stops include Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico; and Belize City, Belize. The Carnival Valor offers seven-day Western Caribbean voyages from Miami, leaving Nov. 1 and Nov. 15. Prices start at $409 and include previously mentioned stops, plus Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands.
A special “Kids Sail Free” seven-day package is available from $499 on Eastern Caribbean cruises, leaving Fort Lauderdale Nov. 7, Nov. 14, Nov. 21 and Nov. 28 aboard the Costa Atlantica. Stops on the Nov. 7 and Nov. 21 cruises include the Virgin Islands; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and the Turks and Caicos Islands. The Nov. 14 and 28 sailings will visit the Virgin Islands, San Juan and the Bahamas.
If you can wait until after the holidays, children 17 and younger sail free from Jan. 7 to April 17 on three- and four-night Disney Wonder cruises with two full-fare paying adults.
A seven-day Western Caribbean itinerary is available aboard the Ryndam, departing Tampa Nov. 15. Rates start at $399 for an inside cabin. Port visits include Key West, Fla.; Belize City, Belize; Santo Tomas, Guatemala; and Costa Maya, Mexico. A seven-day Eastern Caribbean itinerary is available aboard the line’s newest ship, the Eurodam, leaving Oct. 24 from Fort Lauderdale and visiting Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos; San Juan, Puerto Rico; St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; and Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (the line’s private island).
During October and November, three- and four-day Bahamas Getaway Cruises are available on the Norwegian Sky, with rates starting at $139. Most cruises include stops at Nassau, the Bahamas; and Great Stirrup Cay (the line’s private island). Norwegian Dawn offers a nine-day Southern Caribbean cruise departing from Miami on Nov. 20, starting at $649, with visits to Samana, Tortola, Antigua, St. Lucia and St. Kitts.
Rates start at $449 for the Crown Princess’ seven-day Western Caribbean cruises sailing from Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 7, Nov. 14 and Nov. 21. Port stops include Grand Cayman, Cozumel and Princess Cay (the line’s private island).
The Coral Princess offers a 15-day Panama Canal cruise from Los Angeles to Fort Lauderdale with 10 ports of call and the Panama Canal transit, with prices starting at $999. The cruise includes visits to Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco and Huatulco, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Colombia; and Aruba.
